Mark’s Story: A Lifetime of Service and Advocacy
Mark, a veteran with an astounding 32 years of military service, is an inspiration to everyone who meets him. As a proud recipient of an MBE presented by Her Majesty the late Queen, Mark’s dedication to serving the armed forces and veteran communities has earned him countless accolades, including the National Armed Forces and Emergency Services Most Outstanding British Army Veteran Award.
During his military career as an Infantry Sergeant Major (WO2), Mark completed operational tours in Northern Ireland, Kosovo, Bosnia, Iraq, and Afghanistan. These experiences shaped his commitment to the veteran community, which continues today through his role at the Veterans Information Hub.
The Veterans Information Hub:
Mark runs a drop-in coffee morning every Monday, where veterans can connect, seek guidance, and find support. The Hub offers:
✅ Information, guidance, and support tailored to veterans
✅ Initiatives to combat isolation and loneliness through day trips and a community minibus
Despite his dedication to helping others, Mark has faced challenges of his own. He opened up about his experience with hearing loss caused by his years of service, saying:
"I came along to have my hearing tested, not expecting the outcome… My hearing is deep down as well, so we'll see where that goes."

Jason’s Story: Turning Challenges into Triumph
Jason, a proud veteran of the Royal Welsh Fusiliers (1987–1999), shared a story of perseverance and justice. During his time in service, including deployments in Bosnia, Jason experienced significant hearing loss—an all-too-common injury among veterans.
Despite the challenges, Jason took action and worked with Justice4Heroes to claim the compensation he deserved. His case took approximately 19 months to resolve, but his patience paid off. Jason was awarded an impressive £10,700 in compensation for his injuries, proving that justice is achievable for those willing to fight for it.
Jason now serves as a beacon of hope for other veterans. His success story is a reminder that no matter how long it has been since service, it’s never too late to claim what’s rightfully yours.
