From 15,000 to Almost 18,000 Signatures – The Petition That Could Change Veterans’ Lives
Introduction
In early August, Justice4Heroes set a bold target: 15,000 signatures on our petition to end Crown Immunity for pre-1987 Armed Forces leavers. Within weeks, that goal was not only met but surpassed. Today, the total stands at almost 18,000 signatures.
This achievement is more than a number. It is a powerful message: the public believes in fairness, and veterans deserve justice.
Why Crown Immunity Matters
Before 1987, Crown Immunity prevented Armed Forces personnel from claiming against the MoD for injuries sustained in service, including hearing loss. This means thousands of veterans, many of whom served in dangerous and noisy conditions, have been left without redress.
Ending Crown Immunity for these veterans is about more than money. It is about equality, recognition, and dignity.
The Power of Public Support
Every signature on the petition strengthens the case for change. When veterans and their families add their names, they show lawmakers that this is not a fringe issue. When members of the public sign, they demonstrate national support for those who defended the country.
Nearly 18,000 people have now joined this call. That is a movement no politician can ignore.
The Road Ahead
Parliament responds to petitions in stages. Hitting milestones like 10,000 and 100,000 signatures triggers specific obligations. But beyond the formal process, there is also the political weight of public opinion. The louder the call, the harder it is to dismiss.
Justice4Heroes will continue pushing for recognition, lobbying on behalf of veterans, and ensuring that this injustice remains visible. But we cannot do it alone.
Your Role
If you have not yet signed, please add your name. If you have, please share the petition with friends, family, colleagues, and community groups. Each share multiplies the impact.
